A Clean Office in 2015

As long as your New Years post gets published in January it still counts right? We’re going to go with yes.

Last year was such a whirlwind for me. In almost every aspect of my life. I made the decision to go back to school and wrap up my undergraduate degree, I left my career of 10 years, I struggled as my family faced heartbreak…and I found grace. As a child I grew up in church, attending service every Wednesday night and Sunday morning. I’d read the Bible. I’d sang from the hymn book. I’d prayed…yet I missed out on so much. I didn’t truly know God. I hadn’t given him my heart. I hadn’t placed my faith and trust solely in Him. Instead, I believed that whatever life might throw my way…whatever challenges I faced…I was strong enough to conquer them on my own. I could not have been more wrong. We serve a God whose love is unconditional and whose grace will never run out. I am beyond thankful for that truth. Surrendering my will for His has allowed me see that all things work together for His good. Such a transformation has taken place in my heart over the past 7 months, and it has transcended into every facet of my life. I feel like I am looking at my business for the first time with my eyes fully open. I want to focus on serving my clients. Fostering relationships, telling their stories, and serving them. I feel there should be so much more to the photography industry than the bottom line. How many sessions you booked, how many weddings you shot, how many times you were published. All of those things are important, but I will no longer use them to gauge my success. How I made someone feel, how I was able to tell a story, leaving the world a little bit better than I found it…that’s what I will be focusing on from this point forward. I am beyond blessed to have the opportunity to do what I love!

In the theme of fresh starts and new perspectives, I am absolutely ecstatic to announce that I will be attending the Creative At Heart Conference in March! I cannot wait to get together with this group of amazing women to learn from some of the best in not only the photography industry, but the creative industry in general! The All-Star line up consists of several Photographers and Business Owners that I have looked up to for SO long! So SO exciting!

In other news…I cleaned my office. As in, you can see the floor. Those that know me know that this was no small feat (see: David and Goliath). In all honesty, it probably warranted a blog post all its own.

Here’s to love, restoration, growth, and a clean office in 2015!
