I was honored to be part of Caroline’s birthday as Rachel and Brian eagerly welcomed her into the world. Emotions and hopes were high throughout pregnancy as Rachel had her heart set on a VBAC after an emergency c-section delivery with her son. However, due to medical restrictions, Rachel learned that she would need to deliver her daughter via c-section for the safety of herself as well as her baby girl. She opted for a ‘gentle’ c-section, which calls for immediate skin to skin contact after the baby is born. Thankfully gentle c-sections have become vastly more popular with a growing number of hospitals recognizing the health benefits for both mother and baby. This allowed Rachel the opportunity to EXPERIENCE her daughter’s birth, and not just a surgery. Caroline and Rachel were rockstars bonding and nursing ON the operating table! It was beautiful!
